Six Flags has officially locked the gates at one of America’s most famous amusement parks, and several new announcements are raising questions about what visitors can expect when the park reopens.
The company has confirmed a major milestone, introduced a limited-time ticket offer, and revealed important details that could affect thousands of families planning visits next year.
However, not every announcement brings good news.
Certain ticket restrictions could leave visitors paying more than expected, while ongoing safety concerns following a fatal roller coaster incident elsewhere in the Six Flags chain have brought additional attention to potential ride modifications.
With an important November deadline approaching and several changes still awaiting clarification, Cedar Point visitors have plenty to consider before 2027 arrives.
Six Flags Officially Ends Cedar Point’s 2026 Season
Cedar Point officially closed for the season on November 1, ending another year of operations at the popular Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park.
Operated by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, Cedar Point has built a reputation as a major destination for roller coaster enthusiasts.
Its collection of attractions includes Millennium Force, Steel Vengeance, and Maverick, drawing thrill seekers from across the country.
However, roller coasters aren’t the only reason visitors return year after year.
The park’s annual HalloWeekends celebration has become another major attraction, offering haunted experiences, Halloween entertainment, and seasonal activities.
Now that the 2026 season has ended, attention is turning toward what the park will offer when its gates reopen.
And while Six Flags hasn’t announced any new rides for 2027, the company has confirmed an important milestone.

Cedar Point Prepares for a Major 2027 Celebration
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of HalloWeekends, giving Cedar Point a significant occasion to celebrate.
The Halloween event has become a longtime tradition for visitors who enjoy the park’s haunted attractions and seasonal entertainment.
Park spokesperson Sara Gorgon confirmed that planning for the 2027 season is underway, with additional announcements about regular operations and HalloWeekends expected in the coming months.
However, Cedar Point hasn’t revealed exactly what the anniversary celebration will feature.
That means visitors will have to wait for confirmation about which haunted houses, entertainment offerings, and special experiences might be available.
The anniversary could give Halloween enthusiasts another reason to return, but anyone planning a fall visit should pay close attention to the park’s ticket restrictions.
That’s especially important because Cedar Point’s newest promotion doesn’t cover the entire operating season.

Cedar Point Announces $89 Pass With November 30 Deadline
Six Flags is offering Cedar Point’s 2027 Silver Pass for $89 as part of a Black Friday promotion.
The offer runs through November 30, 2026, giving interested visitors a limited window to purchase at the advertised promotional price.
The Silver Pass includes admission and parking at Cedar Point from opening day through Labor Day.
Those who purchase a qualifying pass by November 30 will also receive a free Bring-A-Friend ticket, which remains valid through May 31, 2027.
However, visitors should understand what they’re purchasing.
The Silver Pass provides access only to Cedar Point, not to other Six Flags amusement parks.
It also doesn’t cover the fall HalloWeekends season, meaning anyone hoping to attend the 30th-anniversary celebration should consider other admission options.
Although November 30 marks the promotional deadline, Cedar Point hasn’t confirmed whether the $89 base price will increase afterward.
The park has also confirmed that its 2027 season will begin May 1.
Six Flags Addresses Roller Coaster Safety Questions
Safety remains another topic of discussion following a fatal incident involving a roller coaster at another Six Flags park.
The company confirmed additional seatbelt modifications for three attractions: Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia, Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure, and Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America.
Cedar Point wasn’t included in that announcement.
However, the Ohio park experienced a separate restraint-related concern during 2026.
Replacement seatbelts installed on Millennium Force were shorter than intended, prompting Cedar Point to work with the manufacturer, Intamin, to obtain properly sized replacements.
That situation is separate from the modifications announced for the three other Six Flags roller coasters.
As of November 3, the company hasn’t announced a comparable seatbelt installation program for Cedar Point’s 2027 reopening.
Additional changes remain possible, but none have been confirmed.

What Cedar Point Visitors Should Know Before 2027
Although Cedar Point has finished welcoming visitors for 2026, several important dates are already on the calendar.
The park reopens May 1, HalloWeekends celebrates its 30th anniversary, and the current Silver Pass promotion ends November 30.
For families considering a return visit, the biggest immediate decision involves whether the promotional pass fits their plans.
More announcements are coming, but Cedar Point’s next season is already taking shape.
